A Clash of Kingdoms
When the Kingdom of Christ Collides With the Kingdoms of the World

The Apostle Paul states in Galatians 4:4 that “when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his son.” Jesus entered onto the stage when Caesar Augustus, the most powerful emperor Rome would ever have, was leading the world. Jesus also entered onto the stage when Herod the Great, arguably the the most powerful king the Jewish people ever had (besides Solomon) was ruling Israel. And God’s timing was strategic. The Kingdom of Christ was going to go head-to-head with these kingdoms of the world to demonstrate only one kind of kingdom endures. During this weekend, we’re going to understand what these kingdoms were like in Jesus’ day, how Jesus’ kingdom functioned differently, how the New Testament writers are depicting this clash, and what this all means for Jesus followers today.
