October 10, 2024 | Deacon Meeting Minutes

Attendance:  John Genskow, Denny Denk, Del Polzin, Chuck Falch, James Martin, Gail Graese, Mark Oldenberg, Bruck Winkler, Aaron Libner.

Absent:  Adam Urberg, Erika Zank

Ex-Officio:  Pastor David Forke, Pastor Ethan Luhman

John Genskow Called the meeting to Order at 6:39 pm and then gave an opening prayer.

Director of Youth Ministry Call Committee Presentation and Discussion – Pastor David

Team included:  Riley North, Austin Franzwa, Michelle Dutton, Rita Lambrigtsen, Kate Martin, Kristi Kjelstad.  After looking through many “resumes” and talking with them, the committee decided on two candidates to come to Peace for an onsite visit. One of the two really seemed to fit the position well.

Denny Denk made a motion to approve the Call of Anna Reineke as the Director of Youth Ministry.  Aaron Libner seconded the motion. Motion carried. 

James Martin made a motion to go into an Executive Session to discuss the Director of Youth Ministry Call regarding Salary and Benefit Package Elements.  Chuck Falch seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Call to Order to return to the Board of Deacon’s open meeting

James Martin made a motion to approve the Recommendation of the Personnel Committee with Amendments to accompany the Youth ministry Director Call to includes moving expenses up to $3,000 and to include a single health insurance policy. Aaron Libner seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Aaron Libner made a motion to Recommend to the Congregation to Amend the 2024-2025 Budget to adjust the budget for the Director of Youth Ministry as an element of the Youth Ministry Director Call. Chuck Falch seconded the motion. Motion carried. The specific amount will be finalized after the Business Manager confirms or adjusts the numbers presented during the executive session for salary, benefits, and moving expenses. 

Del Polzin made a motion to call for a Special Congregation Meeting on Monday, October 28, at 6:30 pm to Consider Calling Anna Reineke as Director of Youth Ministry. Bruce Winkler seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Housing allowances for Pastor Ethan Luhman and Caleb Haack. Ethan would like (50%) $43,750 ($1685.69 per check) and Caleb would like (70%) $39,200 ($1507.69 per check).  Aaron Libner made a motion to approve the amounts that Pastor Ethan Luhman and Caleb Haack were asking for housing allowances.  Chuck Falch seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

Allie has asked the Deacons if anyone would be willing to help Caleb drive a car/truck from Omaha to Eau Claire on or about October 25.

Closing Prayer was given by Pastor Ethan Luhman.

Bruce Winkler made a motion to adjourn the meeting.  Denny Denk seconded the motion.  Motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 7:26 pm.
