Luke 9:18-27

How would you answer the question of Jesus, “Who do you say that I am?”  How does your answer to that question influence your priorities and the way you live your life?

Matthew 16:21-28

Why would Peter refute Jesus’ announcement of his upcoming death?  How do you find your way of thinking to be counter to what Jesus teaches about the Christian life?   How is God calling you to change your way of thinking and your focus, in order to “take up your cross” and follow Jesus?

Revelation 5:1-14

Reflecting on the truth that Jesus is the Christ, the one who came to save us and set things right with God, how would you describe his worthiness . . .

To be praised, to be honored, to devote your life to following his words and way of life?

Joshua 24:14-18

Joshua challenges the people of Israel to serve/follow the God who has saved them from slavery and given them a new place to live and thrive.  Write down the similarities of their story to what Jesus has done for us?   What other “gods” are we tempted to turn and follow today?  How do we avoid following and serving the wrong things in life?

Matthew 20:20-28

To follow Jesus means to develop the heart of a servant.  In what ways are you most likely to serve yourself rather than others?  How might focusing on what Jesus has done for you help you to be more open to recognizing how you can serve others in Jesus’ name?
