Light
We see but we don’t see. This is certainly the case when it comes to spiritual and moral truth. We are too often blind to spiritual realities, to the love and truth of God, and to our brokenness. Thus, the need for the enlightening power of God’s Spirit to teach and direct us in the Jesus’ Way.
April 17 Ephesians 1:17-23
Make a list of the various gifts that God will give us through the Holy Spirit as prayed for by the Apostle Paul in this passage. What are areas in your life in which you could benefit from wisdom from God? How would you like to know God better? What does it mean to you that you have God’s incomparably great power working for you and in you?
April 18 John 14:26; 15:26; 16:12-15
What is the Holy Spirit referred to in these three passages? How can we see the Holy Spirit as “Helper” in our lives? How does the Holy Spirit act in this way? John also refers to the Holy Spirit as the Spirit of Truth. What truth is the Holy Spirit speaking in your life right now?
April 19 Corinthians 2:9-14
How can we discern the Spirit of God from other voices and influences in our lives? How does spending time in God’s Word helps us discern this voice? What does this mean for us that the Holy Spirit helps us discern?
April 20 Isaiah 42:18-22; 2 Corinthians 4:4-6
Since we have been blinded and made deaf by the “god of this world,” how can we turn from this world and to the mind of God? Having the knowledge of Christ in our hearts, how can we shine that light to others who are blind and deaf to God’s call in their life?
April 21 Psalm 119:97-105
Just as we get closer with friends and family by spending time with them, we grow closer to God by spending time with Him in prayer and His Word. What commitment can you make to yourself to spend time in God’s Word each day? What rhythm works for you?
