Fruit
God’s anticipation and deep desire is that our lives will be fruitful as we stay connected to Jesus. The fruit is “within” as we develop character qualities such as patience and compassion and “with out” as we perform actions of love and service.
Monday | Isaiah 27:2-6
What is God's desire for us in regard to fruitfulness? In what ways does God help us tend to the fruit in our lives? What is a next step you can take today in allowing God to water you? In what ways do you need the help of God against the thorns in your life?
Tuesday | John 15:1-17
What does it mean to "remain" or "abide" in Christ? Are there any practices in your life that encourage you to abide in God's love? What is the command stated in this chapter? How does remaining in Christ help us to produce the fruit of love for others? Who in your life is God calling you to show love to today, and how?
Wednesday | Galatians 5:22-25
List out the spiritual fruit mentioned in these verses. Which of these spiritual fruits comes easily to you? Which ones are the hardest for you, and why? Pick out one of the fruits you feel drawn to from this list and take some time today to pray that the Lord would cultivate that fruit in your life. What is one way you can practice growing this spiritual fruit today?
Thursday | Romans 7:4-6
What are some examples of bearing "fruit for death"? In contrast, what would it look like to bear "fruit for God" in those situations instead? In what ways have you died to the things that once bound you? How have you seen the fruit in your life change from fruit for death to fruit for God?
Friday | Colossians 1:9-14
What are the attitudes and actions listed in this chapter that are pleasing to God? Which of these spiritual fruits are "within" fruits (character qualities and attitudes)? Which of them are "with out" fruits (actions of love and service)? What qualities is God currently developing within you as spiritual fruit? What actions is He calling you to in order to live out those qualities?
