December 5--Isaiah 11:1-10

As you reflect on these verses, what characteristics of Jesus, the shoot or branch of Jesse, stand out for you?  How have you experienced these things in your relationship with Jesus?  How does this promise from God give you hope for restoration in your own life? In the world around you?

December 6-- Romans 15:8-13

Paul identifies Jesus as the “root of Jesse” as in Isaiah 11:10. So Jesus is the righteous branch that brings salvation, and He is also the source of it all, God himself!  How does knowing that God is the one who stepped into the world to give us hope of a better life bring hope to you in this season?  Jesus shows us that God makes good on His promises.  What promises of God are helping you to live a new life with Him?

December 7—Revelation 21:5-8; Revelation 22:12-17

During the season of Advent, we not only reflect on the great gift of the incarnation of Jesus, but on His promise to come again and bring full restoration to the world.  What words or phrases in these verses, bring hope to your heart in the midst of the darkness of this age?   How does knowing the outcome and beautiful life that awaits you inspire and motivate you to live for Jesus now?

December 8  -- 2 Corinthians 13:11-14; 2 Corinthian 5:17-21

Part of Jesus’ restoration process in the world is for us to help others be reconciled to God through Him.  How does it feel to know that you are called to be a part of this ministry?  How is God moving you to get involved?   We also are called to be reconciled with one another.  In what ways can you reach out with the restorative power of Jesus in the relationships you have with others?

December 9 -- Romans 8:18-28

The world is waiting for the final and ultimate restoration that comes with the second advent of Jesus.  In the mean time, we are called to serve others and reach out in grace and truth to bring restoration as we are able.  How is God calling you in this season to be an agent of his hope and restoration in the world around you?
