Specific Spiritual Gifts in the Bible
This week make your own list of Spiritual gifts from the readings. Continue reflecting on how each gift builds up the church and honors God. Also, reflect on how you might see the gift in yourself or in others.
Remember to take the Spiritual Gifts Inventory online here or pick up a paper version at Peace.
Monday | Ephesians 4:11-12; Romans 12:6-8
Start your own list of Spiritual Gifts. Which ones are cited in these passages? What is the goal Paul shares in Ephesians 4? How have you benefited from others using their Spiritual Gifts in the church?
Tuesday | 1 Corinthians 12:7-11, 27-30
Continue adding to your list of Spiritual Gifts in the Bible. Make a note if any are repeated from yesterday’s readings. Which gifts are you able to identify being demonstrated by members of Peace Church? How? Which gifts do you think you might have? What indications do you have of these gifts in your life?
Wednesday | 1 Peter 4:7-11
Which gifts does Peter acknowledge in these verses? Are they on your list already? What does Peter say we are to use our gifts for? There are at least two points in this passage. Why do you think we are encouraged so many times in the New Testament to use our gifts for others?
Thursday | Exodus 31:1-11
This passage is an interesting example of God gifting people very specifically in the Old Testament. Note that God starts out referencing the filling with the Spirit of God, which would indicate that these very “physical” gifts or artistry and craftsmanship can also be Spiritual gifts! What more “natural” gifts have you been given that could be used in a more “spiritual” way, to honor God to build up His people and help expand His kingdom? Who could help you find ways to use your gifts this way?
Friday | 2 Timothy 1:6-7
As you think about Spiritual Gifts and your own giftedness, do you feel nervousness and fear, or do you feel a spirit of power and love leading you forward? Spend some time in prayer asking God to help you fan into flame the gifts He has given you and to help you see how you can use them effectively.
If you have not done so, take the online Spiritual Gifts Inventory, or the written version available at Peace.
