Why Pick-up a Backpack? The True North Vision
At the core of Peace’s True North vision is that “We understand and embrace the idea that only by being transformed can we effectively represent Christ, fulfill God’s will in our families, serve our community, and influence others with the love and truth of Jesus.” This week’s Scripture focuses on what such transformation looks like as we become more like Jesus and produce more of the fruits of the Holy Spirit.
January 9 Romans 12:1-3, 9-21
Paul calls for a “whole life” offering to God. What areas of life, have you been holding back from God? Why?
In verses 9-21, there is quite a list of ways our lives can reflect our devotion to Jesus and His Way. Which stand out to you as areas you may need to work on?
January 10 Galatians 5:16-26
We can not transform ourselves to be Holy. It is the work of the Holy Spirit, but we can strive to work with the spirit for change. Which fruit(s)of the Spirit outlined do you feel God has already been producing in your life? Which seem to be lacking or do would you like to see produced more in your life? How can you connect with the Spirit to work toward growth?
January 11 Ephesians 4:17-5:1
How would you describe or explain “the way” of life you have been learning in Christ? Who do you know that best exemplifies it, and what does it look like in their life?
How might your life be different, if you sought to imitate Christ each day? What benefits might there be for you and for others?
January 12 Colossians 3:1-17
What part of the old self do you most need to take off? What would Jesus give you to wear instead? How do verses 1-3 provide motivation for you to work for change in your life?
January 13 1 Timothy 1:5-8; 2 Timothy 2:14-17
What kinds of irrelevant or trivial things get in the way of our following Jesus more closely today? What causes us to lose focus and swerve from living the Jesus Way? How can we redirect our focus and try to maintain it.
